Glove-Boxes

The Schleid group owns three glove boxes (MBraun, Company, Munich) for chemical storage and preparation of samples which are not stable in air or water. The boxes are argon filled to prevent oxygen sensitive chemicals, especially the rare-earth metals from oxidation. In the glove boxes, the reaction containers (silica ampoules or metal capsules) are filled with the educts. Therefore, two of the boxes are equipped with laboratory scales. One of the small boxes has a built-in microscope which enables the preparation of oxygen- or water-sensitive samples (e.g. nitrides) for X-ray structure analysis. sld_box3arm.jpg
