I deal with multinary hydrides of the rare-earth metals, especially with hydride halides and hydride chalcogenides. Besides the synthesis and the structure determination of these compounds I am interested in the luminescence of the Eu2+ cation because its emission wavelength depends strongly on the chemical environment and thus can be purposefully changed.
